Situated in Vidauban in the Var, less than 30 minutes' drive from the Gulf of Saint Tropez, at the Mas du Rouquan relaxation is assured in a friendly and informal atmosphere. It is ideally situated for exploring the Côte d'Azur and all the other exciting attractions in the Var. The Mas du Rouquan is in the heart of the Plaine des Maures, a national nature reserve reknowned for its' remarkable flora and fauna. Locally it is frequently referred to as 'la Petite Afrique', as the majestic parasol pines and cork oak trees which grow in abundance give it a quite unique feel.
We are situated on the edge of the Bois du Rouquan, a site internationally reknowned for its flora: rare orchids and Mediterranean flowers cover the ground in the spring.
It is home to the (protected) Hermanns tortoise and numerous other species: wild boar, foxes, badgers, amongst many others.

Kate et Philippe Cheminade and their three very friendly dogs (Bertie and Buster, two Jack Russells, and Alba, the truffle hunting poodle) welcome guests in five studios (four doubles and one that sleeps four).
Each studio, situated at ground floor level, has an independent entrance and a private shaded terrace.
Each studio is equipped with a private shower room and toilet and a mini kitchenette (hot plate and fridge).
The terrace and gardens benefit from sunshine from dawn till dusk, from which the parasol pines and cork oak trees provide shade for those happier to avoid the midday sun.
Our guests can take a refreshing dip in our private swimming pool and relax on the comfortable sun loungers, whilst admiring the stunning surrounding scenery.

A copious breakfast consisting of freshly squeezed orange juice, hot drinks, cereals, bread, croissants, fresh fruit, yoghurts, cheese, ham, etc (included in the price) is served on our main terrace overlooking the stunning countryside of the Plaine des Maures towards the hills that tower above the Gulf of Saint-Tropez.
This is a good time to chat and mingle with the other guests and discuss your planned activities for the day; Kate and Philippe are always on hand with tips and advice which will help make your visit to the Var a success. If you decide to eat in the evening at Le Mas du Rouquan this is when Philippe will plan the menu with you.
Four courses (wine included in the price are served 'en famille' in an informal and sometimes raucous atmosphere. Philippe is a professional chef with many years' experience in several reknowned establishments on both sides of the English Channel. He is passionate about sourcing fresh local ingredients to produce excellent traditional Provençal cuisine. He is equally capable of catering for all special dietary needs and tastes.
